He has mentioned this Wall to her before.

Elena has a pretty good imagination, and it is still difficult for her to conceive of something so colossal - over seven hundred feet tall, is what he'd said. And she considers Jon to be someone fairly introverted, though not without command of himself - so it shines in moments like these. It gives her a small glimpse into the kind of leader and king he is in his world, even if he doesn't necessarily see himself that way.

Maybe she just likes the sound of his voice, too.

She takes it all in, and she thinks she can almost see it in her mind's eye. The vastness and the cold - and a piece of Jon's heart as he speaks of it all. But ... "If the Wall is meant to keep the dead out, why would the wildlings live beyond it?"
