( it feels like everything to her. this is Elena. next to Bonnie, this is everything. if only all three of them were here, against Hell. Lucifer or God or whoever wouldn't know what hit them.
Caroline starts to step forward but stops, eyes tracing the doorway from the bottom right corner up. but, she's there. Elena is there in front of her and she stepped through. can Caroline?
she can.
Elena's hair is longer again, but more wild than she remembers. it has volume and personality. Caroline loves it. Caroline's own self-possession has smoothed over. she has two girls and Ric to think about. and an entire school of kids. she doesn't get to be self-possessed. well, maybe every once in awhile. maybe when she wants to take the jet to New Orleans and say goodbye.
Caroline gives an appraising look, not trying to judge anything too harshly against Elena, as nobody decided to go to Hell. Well, maybe Jason. Jason sure killed a bunch of teenager on the way there. )
I could say the same to you. ( It's always good to see Elena. But the Elena she knows, the one with the family practice and the family to go with it? She's busy. And Caroline runs a school. And travels. And parents. ) I don't know what Hell is doing to that hair, but keep doing it. It's so long!
( She reaches out and lightly brushes two fingers through her hair, a strand catching as she pulls back. )
I don't think it's been this long since -- ( And then she stops. Because, Elena is last in their timeline. Her smile freezes, her shoulders rise and she shakes her head once back and forth and laughs. ) I don't really know the protocol here.
