There's clear disappointment on his features. Ramsay was nothing to him. The man's reputation never reached him and the horrors he was capable of remained hidden. It was Roose that was the monster, Roose that had driven all of the dark deeds. To hear he was murdered by his son rather than someone from Robb's remaining family or a loyal Northerner...it was glass breaking beneath his feet.
If he knew what Sansa was put through, it would be all the worse for his guilt and grief. Knowing he failed to rescue her as he meant to, everything that happened would have been leveled at his decisions. Theon gave him a mercy, even if Robb was unaware of that mercy.
