( she lets her hands slide from the book she'd just been reading, reading them on the table for a moment. she knows that harriet's there, had lifted her head to catch her signing after the tap but she needs a moment. maybe that last book had been pushing it a little, a lot of magic use with how much reading she's been doing and far too much reading in such a short space of time. she hadn't read in this volume since she'd very first learned to speed read and had tried to read so much in eagerness that she'd almost shorted out from her head hurting.
but this time it wasn't just a lot of reading but reading including things that she didn't understand, things she couldn't translate and it was those words, that information that almost dazed her for a moment. magic has consequences )
I'm alright. ( she's a fool of a librarian who'll never admit that she needs a break, especially not when she's so focused on this task. she's reading so much so quickly in case they're sent to another land and the volumes in this library don't exist there. there's too much for her to read all of it but some has proven useful.
where her signing was a hint slower than usual she finally smiles slightly, closing the book to return it to the pile of books she needed to put back. at least she doesn't immediately reach for another one )
