Are they staying fed without him? Safe? Has some new enemy shown up at their gates? He can't know. And it's killing him a little more every day.
He doesn't need to say anything and even if he did, he knows the words themselves are unnecessary. They both get it.
But he's seen enough from this guy to know that to hear him admit it out loud isn't nothing. Surprising even himself, he presses a brief kiss to his shoulder. Not the possessive, toothy kisses that he's marked up so much of his skin with, but a distinctly human, reassuring gesture.
