Essek stared at him, uncertain for a moment if Caleb just meant his components or if it lingered in that middle ground of something else. Components were…vital to them, to wizards; without those items, it left those them unable to cast certain – all – spells. And Essek had never been a fighter, regardless of the things he had been trained in.

His fingers twitched against Caleb’s, leaning into them for a second. He was starting to reach for them when the chime of the elevator rang and Caleb walked out.
“If I am honest,” he said as he floated out behind him, “I will probably use most of the pearls on you. Fortune’s Favor works well with your magic.” High risk, high reward.
Then again, it was the only thing that had allowed him to get Caleb out from under all that rock, that rubble in a fight that Caleb didn’t even remember. Perhaps the both of them could use it, after all. He waited for the door to be unlocked, looking at the wizard.
