It had only been a month since they had stood in this bathroom for a very different reason, and given everything that had happened in the last weeks, all the ways he looked right now, it had been tactless and boorish to make the joke in the first place. He took off his trousers and underwear quietly and, after turning off the tub, sank into the water. It was not too full, which was good, because he really wasn't sure if he wanted the water to touch any of his wounds though he knew that would be part of this.
He had to sit awkwardly in the tub, back toward the faucet, so that the worse of his arms was facing out. His eyes cast to Essek, all that lean, dark skin, and then he looked away, faintly flush.
