[ It says a lot that she's not bothered by his lack of the "typical" reactions. She was usually caught up in that sort of thing, how things were supposed to go. A soft squeeze, a kiss pressed to her hair, some sweet, sentimental drivel whispered into her ear...the cliched scenarios flit in and out of her mind, but she doesn't seize on them. They simply go in and out.

So strange that for once, the unexpected--the bare minimum--was exactly what she needed. Luck was definitely on his side.

As the pent-up grief pours out, she relaxes, bit by bit. The worst of the storm's passed, and a few sunbeams are peeking through the clouds. ]
