About halfway through, it got to being a little too much. Caleb looked up toward the ceiling above them, trying desperately to ground himself as tears started to roll down his cheeks. It was a moment of heavy breathing as well, before he let out a long, low wail of pain.

It had been ages since he'd responded so viscerally to the physicality of pain. He clenched his teeth, desperate and overwhelmed as his breath hitched and ratcheted in his chest.

After a moment of it, tears streaming down his face, Caleb swore under his breath and tried to take a steadying breath.
