It was the same explanation that he'd heard before, which wasn't much of an explanation at all, in his estimation. But he was in no state to argue about it, so he didn't.

Instead, he came with Jim into the bathroom and let him help him out of his shirt. There were several old scars, the most impressive being a network of dark, webbing, maze-glyph scars on both forearms which one of the sins ran into. There was also a handful of burns.

He sat down.
