Yugi jerks away, face flaming. It isn't a total loss - he looks up at Kaiba, makes a long moment of eye contact even with his red, red face. His eyes are focused on him, all defiant and sharp, much like another pair much redder than his. Yugi's mouth is open and clearly wanting to come back with a rejoinder...
But he doesn't have all the pieces, and it shows in the way his expression becomes less belligerent. It isn't even a game metaphor, at this point. Yugi is almost certain Kaiba has the experience to back up what he's saying; Yugi's experience is Kaiba, and they haven't gone very far at all. There's only so much he can bluster through his first time playing this game. When, before Kaiba, he didn't even think it was right for him to have these kinds of thoughts about anyone in particular.]
Sounds like someone thinks I'll make that easy for them, that they won't have to work for it.
[One last shot to keep himself afloat in these treacherous waters. It might be a loss, but at least it isn't a surrender.]
Just... not tonight.
[He knows Kaiba knows that. Kaiba has to know that. Should know that. Yugi doesn't want to disappoint, though, so he makes it crystal clear.]
