jouno saigiku | bungo stray dogs

arrival.

Jouno has never been a good person (at least, he's never been a good person for good reasons), so Hell is not a surprise to him. Even before his years as a Hunting Dog torturing reprimanding criminals, he'd been a criminal himself. His list of sins -- and therefore his contract here -- is unsurprisingly long. It's fitting that this is where he ended up.

What he hadn't expected was a chance at redemption. How complicated.

Still, before he decides if he wants to continue his incredibly last minute path to being a good man, he should get his bearings. Even with the rest of his senses being heightened, being in a new place while blind guaranteed some level of confusion. He's determined that he's in a lobby of sorts, but beyond that, he needs a little help. Asking for that help takes a little more time. He hates having to rely on anyone for anything, especially things like this, but eventually, he'll stop the next pair of feet he hears.

"Would you mind helping me out for a minute?"

stand your ground.

Jouno finds the cafe by the aroma of coffee wafting through the air. While he should probably do more investigating, a quick break won't hurt and it'll be nice to have a cup of coffee without being with someone who thinks the proper way to drink coffee is to dump soy sauce into it.

He takes a sample of one of the iced coffees off the counter, only to hear a slight squeak and the scurrying of little feet.

"Is that a rat on the counter?"

Maybe drinking coffee in Hell isn't such a good idea, after all.

the first pull is the hardest

While he's unable to see the device, the feel of it is impressive to Jouno. He wishes he could examine it further, out of simple curiosity. Some of the aspects of Hell interest him a lot more than others.

The cuffs are tight around his wrists, and he only bothers to try and move them once. They're in Hell; it makes sense that there's a punishment aspect to it. Besides, torture to someone who'd been skilled in it back home is simply poetic justice at this point.

It's also not the first time he's been on the receiving end.

He knows he's not alone in the room by the sound of another heartbeat, so after the machine has spit out its slip of paper, he says, "Sorry. Could you read it to me?"
