"More than once? That's a shame." There's nothing in his voice that implies that he actually cares about her plight. Playing friendly or not, there's only so much empathy he can provide.

"I do." He'd been trained -- and genetically redesigned -- to withstand most forms of pain and torture. Losing a few (or all) of his nails wouldn't be the worst thing that he'd endured in his lifetime (and beyond it now, he supposes). "You have an issue with confessing your sins, then?"

Jouno didn't particularly care one way or the other. He's certainly not ashamed of the things he'd done, regardless of his motivations -- cruel or otherwise -- behind them, but if she has a reason to not want to then it's fine with him. If anything, he'll enjoy the sound of her pain as their nails are ripped off.
