[Of course I do, the look on his face says, but that isn't really what Kaiba is after.
Kaiba wants Yugi to place himself right back in that scene. Despite it being a time when his and Atem's edges overlapped, so entwined that where one began and the other ended was nothing more than a question mark, the memory and all of its markers are clear as day: the stress of the moment; self-righteous feeling; unshakable belief in something intangible.
And something that he couldn't quite put his finger on that day, but now seeks out every time he and Kaiba come to heads - the thrill of trying to take on something, or someone, he didn't know if he could handle. Just to see if he could.
It lingers in his thoughts throughout the rounds that he can't have that experience right now, even as Kaiba tries to win back what belongs to Yugi. Greedy. Maybe he really does belong down here. His fingers curl against lacquered wood. Yugi nods.]
Yes, I believe in...
[He still believes in miracles - that miracle in particular. But he isn't so sure that's what Kaiba is after either.]
... I believe in a lot more than that now. I believe that some people can make their own miracles.
