[Working keeps Sally's mind from spiraling, though she still can't help murmuring to herself as she shuffles her way through the carnival, box of supplies in hand. She's focused enough on the task at hand that she almost doesn't hear it--passes right by the young man slumped against one of the booths.
But the wheezing does reach her, and instinctively her steps grind to a halt. The girl turns back toward the noise, uncertain even when she makes eye contact.
Like, what is she going to do? It's not like she has an inhaler. Or knows much first aid. Anxiety clutches at her as she wrestles on whether or not she can still pretend she didn't notice him...but her conscience wins out over her cowardice and she ultimately puts the box down on the nearest table.]
