Sort of. The person who released it from it's cage was granted three wishes. (one of which is still a sore subject but you know, let's not get into that right now.)

After he made his last wish it would have been freed, but I was trying to tie it to me to harness its power to get back something that was stolen from me. But the ritual was harder than I expected, and it nearly killed me. So he made his final wish, and the djin left.
