Suzaku’s staring far too intently at L.L. For a moment he wonders if he missed some blood in his hair - but no, he checked in the mirror before leaving, it couldn’t be that. He breaks their eye contact as he delicately sips his wine - but when he glanced through his lashes at Suzaku again he’s still staring.
He doesn’t know what to make of the blush, of the touch, of that shy hesitation - and then it all clicks.
Of course, Suzaku doesn’t remember his original death. He knows intellectually that L.L’s an immortal now but he’s never seen the visceral tooth. He must still be shaken, must still not quite believe L.L’s fine after his lobotomy. He remembers how he himself reacted in Narita when C.C was pierced by the flying rock, how he couldn’t even think to heed her when she told him to run because her apparent immortality was meaningless compared to the very real blood and pain she’d been experiencing.
His face softens in understanding and he sets his glass down so that he can wrap his hand over Suzaku’s, giving him a comforting squeeze.
“It’s okay now.” He promises. “I’m all right. We’re all right.”
