"Yeah, I-I suppose that's true." Conrad didn't want to think their situation was completely hopeless, even if he was hardly an optimist. And maybe he could elaborate on his thoughts further, but he's gritting his teeth and clenching every muscle in his body as the grinding pressure finally meets his forehead.

Staying calm is certainly easier said than done, but he refrains from jerking his seat back, at least. He's well aware that not following instructions during these torture exercises ultimately makes things worse. As the drill breaks skin he feels a faint trickling of blood dribble down his face and he lets out a keening whine. It hurts, but it's hardly unbearable. He's endured far worse. And then after all that buildup, it stops.

"Oh, thank Christ! Is... Is it over?" He's almost afraid to look and he blurrily peers at the drill once it's done. Now he just wants to be free and he pulls against his restraints even as the demons who strapped them in appear to help them out.
