He flushes a little at the noise, strange but kind of cute, and his hand trails up to rest over Steve's, leaning into the touch.
There's a part of him that wants to say, That's okay. I can handle it. He knows he can. He has. But... at the same time, knows it's not right. He's already bruised and sore and scared, and he might end up resenting Steve if he goes through with this. Not to mention that... this seems like something the real Steve would be concerned about. Maybe it's him, managing to break through the corruption just long enough to try and save him. And if so, he should respect his effort and his wishes. Right?
Still, he can't help but feel a little disappointed as he finally pulls away.
"Okay," he says quietly and turns to slip into his room, glancing back through the remaining crack between the door and the frame. "I'll... see you later, then?"
