Peter watched Steve wash himself off. The guy did say he had medical supplies around, so Peter hunted them out. Sure Steve also said he would heal eventually, but those gaping wounds should still be covered up until then. Peter might have stopped being a nurse years ago, but the training didn't go away.

"I don't really care. Sit down and let me patch you up. It's not sanitary to be working with food when you have open wounds like that."
