endoftheuniverse: ([Young] What the hell is going on?)

Liam's grip is firm and supportive, and he smiles ever-so-slightly as Hector finds his feet - the capacity for gratitude in spite of their circumstances is a good sign. But the difference between don't want to and won't is small but distinct, and his smile disappears quicker than it surfaced. He watches him cautiously a moment, and the instant after Hector decides not to read his charges, shrugs, deflecting his gaze to glance at the door again. "What does it matter? I'm not going through with this."

He takes a few steps back, projecting his voice as though to address an audience, gesturing casually about the room. "What does any of this achieve? It doesn't make what we've done disappear. So why should we do it?" It's not a question so much as a leading comment. But before Hector can get in an argument, Liam clarifies one thing: "And I don't buy that bullshit about repentance. Suffering doesn't make people sorry." He glances up, as though to find a camera, even knowing that the Gods did not need such a thing.
