[ It is a game. What is sympathy supposed to help? It doesn't fix anything, it doesn't change anything. Even when it's sincere, it's useless. Emotions help no one.

There's a bit of surprise to hear Nezumi's example actually coming into play. It's happened, of course. To him, even. It's hardly that odd of a coincidence, he supposes. Still, he wonders if the man thinks anything of the fact that had been Nezumi's chosen example. ]

Chipped into broken.

[ That's no surprise, either. Most people don't go from spoiled to survivalists or those out for revenge in a moment. Their ideals slowly corrode, destroying what was. If they were strong enough, something was built in its place.

He's thoughtful. Sympathy, huh? He doesn't have it in the traditional sense, but if it did exist in him, it was for the outcasts. This man was royalty, but there was a tragedy in the loss of his family. It's horrific. Nezumi can understand that, and he thinks the man has every right to want revenge, but it's also a tragedy he sees often. Not int he same sense, not with assassination. Admittedly, Nezumi doesn't know if that's what happened, but in royalty, that was likely. No, he sees families die from murder, starvation, untreated illness; all things that are common the the Western District. It may make him cold, but in a sense, it would be like being shocked by the clouds when you stepped outside. How does he offer an emotion he doesn't feel? ]

What happened to your family?

[ He'll try, but his hopes are low. ]
