Mostly he was curious if it was something Peter could actively control, which was what he'd guess since the kid didn't walk around like a giant, filthy hairball, or whether he was always at least somewhat sticky. [The rebukes weren't harsh. Steve could remember being a kid well enough, and he'd thrown himself into fights constantly without knowing the actual situation. He just wanted to help Peter avoid unnecessary pain. And maybe stop just doing what Tony said/did. He loved Tony, but the man wasn't exactly the best example to be following! Well, at least the Tony he knew wasn't.
