He notices the reaction to the coke comment. He was hoping for a laugh, really, but maybe coke jokes are only funny when you're already a junkie and you don't give a shit. Or maybe she's just tense. It never occurs to him that he is not, in fact, funny to anyone but himself. Ben isn't here to tell him that, so in a sense, he has less conscience or self-awareness.

That said, he has at least some level of awareness of other people. He wonders why she offers that serial killer thing. Because this is hell? Because of the handcuffs? Did she escape from cops just to get thrown into literal hell? That seems unfair. Klaus's entire family may be superheroes (or, well, some of them at least think they are), but he's not so sure that the line is always really clear between hero and villain.

He also notices she won't really come near him. He doesn't consider himself intimidating. He's tall, sure, but mostly thin. He's got a bit more muscle now since Vietnam, but...aside from Vanya before she went off the rails, he's probably the least threatening of the living Hargreeves children. Well, Five is a kid in appearance, but he has mastered looking intimidating at that size. It's weird.

"Not really a gal of many words, huh?" he asks, sipping his electric blue drink almost daintily. It's an absurd gesture, like almost everything about him.

He comes around the bar to the side she's on and slides onto a stool. He's not right next to her, taking the hint about her wanting space. But she hasn't just walked off yet, either, and he's overly social by nature. It's one of his many ways of compensating for only having dead people around much of the time that he's sober (aside from Ben, that is).

"Well. I also had a trying day before coming here. So, solidarity."
