TEST DRIVE MEME #12

ARRIVAL
You remember a dream.
Or maybe nightmare is more accurate.
It was full of hellfire nipping at your skin and a sensation of being pulled down no matter how much you struggle or cry for help. There's a voice that feels like it's coming from all around you at once. Contrasting with the nightmare unfolding around you, it's smooth as silk. It makes you want to listen with every bit of attention you can muster in the moment.
"Judgement has come upon you, but not to worry. It can still be undone."
The voice promises you redemption for your sins. It promises you a better life and everything you could ever want, if only you just stop struggling so much.
And so you do.

Everyone wakes up in the same room initially. The room is done up in red with a cushy bed, a window, an old TV in the corner on a desk, and a few Hieronymus Bosch paintings lining the wall. There's a bathroom to clean up in and any belongings will be sat around the room to be gathered later. There's a duffel bag provided for your convenience.

They'll quickly notice the list of their sins written with their blood on a bedside table on an old piece of parchment. This will mean the list is tied to them and can't be changed or tampered with. They'll also receive their device to connect with others and the network. It won't be anything terribly fancy. As a matter of fact, it looks like a very old Blackberry type phone.
Once characters are ready to leave the room, they'll head down long, winding halls. They're dimly lit and ominous feeling. They may encounter fellow sinners or demonic staff that will direct the newcomer down to the lobby to get their actual room key to settle in. They may be pushy, they may border on courteous. It really just depends on the mood of the staff at the time and how they're treated in return. Eventually, everyone comes to stairs that lead downward.

Once down to the lobby, you'll notice the front desk manned by a demon who looks bored out of its mind. To the side of him is the door to the kitchen where guests may help themselves. To the right is a small duty free shop that seems to have a surprisingly normal, expected stock of items. Look around a bit further, there will be a tiny bar tucked in through a corner door. It seems pretty well-stocked and best of all, there's a demonic bartender who seems to know how to mix any drink you can imagine (and a few you can't). Of course there's some seating, bar games, and a jukebox tucked in the corner if you'd rather stay and socialize a bit. There's also a new addition of a karaoke machine.
Please note that all the songs on the jukebox are appropriately hell-themed. Hopefully Sympathy for the Devil is universally loved.
STAND YOUR GROUND
QUIET AGAIN
Good day, denizens of Hell! The weather remains crisp and hot as ever, but all voices have finally ceased! No more telepathy, no more unwanted flashes. The entire hotel seems relieved by this turn of events! The staff is in a far better mood as the bustle around handling cleaning and laundry and all those tasks they tend to despise.
There's some buzzing talk around the hotel about how it's been almost a year since this experiment began and they've heard that Lucifer will want to make a special announcement about it soon. If asked, they won't really say what he's planning to do about all of this. Some may even seem a little put off by how long this experiment has gone on and would rather just not talk about it at all.
Ah, well.
What matters is it's been a year for some of the guests in the hotel and there's a nice, lengthy list of redeemed souls. Not too shabby. They're making excellent progress.
In celebration, a new location has been unlocked just off the hotel gym! It seems there's a new indoor pool. For once, it does seem to just be a normal pool with no weird after effects. It doesn't suddenly turn into blood or anything! Though guests will be responsible for its upkeep. The staff already cleans up after every other mess they make, why should the have to deal with this one too?
Lucifer will be curiously absent and unreachable during this time. If asked, the staff will say he's a busy overlord and he's got other things to tend to. They'll direct them towards Lilith instead, who will have made a return to the hotel for the time being.
THE VEIL
Warnings: dead animals, blood, violence.
For all the palpable relief in the air at no longer dealing with odd voices, there's still another threat looming in the air. A cult by the name of The Veiled Order who wants to take over Hell itself. it seems they're still on the move. they're still leaving animal carcasses around the outside of the community and starting fires here and there. It seems to be some sort of ritual. Or maybe it's just a scare tactic. No one can be absolutely certain.
Either way, one day, Lilith will appear on every device in the Penance community. She will look as calm as ever, entirely professional as she meets the camera with a slight smile. "While this isn't my usual area of expertise, addressing all of you as I am, it's a necessity. I'm asking all of you to help us gather a few items around the community to help with a spell that may provide us further insight into what our friends at the Veiled Order are up to. A list will follow this broadcast... please return the items you find to the front desk. We're all deeply grateful for your continued cooperation."
The list is as follows:
5 Hell flowers
2 apples
5 strands of dark hair.
4 vials of Squonk blood.
3 fingers.
2 items touched by magic.
Worry not! If fingers are severed during this portion of the event, the staff has magic to regrow the limbs over night. Staff will be very grateful for the help.
Once all items have been acquired, Lucifer will include the findings in his announcement.
REACH UP HIGH
PLEASE EXPLAIN...
Warnings: mutilation, blood, torture.

"What I ask of you won't be an easy task, but it will be a lesson that's valuable to learn. The device before you will display a sin one of you is guilty of. You will be given exactly one minute to begin explaining what happened and how. There's no need to try to excuse your behavior... do be frank about it. Fair warning, if either of you refuse... you'll likely be very unhappy about what happens as a result."
Guests won't have the option of refusing this daunting task. The demons that dragged them in will also shove their hands in the opening of the device. They'll be unable to remove them as a typing noise begins sounding out. After a moment, a sheet of paper will then pop out of the top of the device for guests to read, with one sin off their list printed neatly on it. They will have a minute to begin to explain what it means and how it happened.
Should the guest refuse or fail, they will feel the contraption start to work once again, an ominous sound of something shifting before a sharp pain shoots up their finger. Each time they fail, they will each lose a fingernail. this will keep going until they've lost all ten (or however many the guest may have) or they answer a satisfactory number of sins. It really just depends on which sort of torment the guests are content with suffering through and how much they want redemption.
[Note: How many sins characters have to explain to be released will be left up to player discretion!]
FOLLOW ME DOWN
Prompt I
Warnings: Alcohol and drug abuse, potential non-con/dub-con.

You may not get much of a chance to have that in hell after all. So one drink won't hurt, right? Nor will one more after that.
There will also be every sort of party drug available that might tickle your fancy. There's no harm in experimenting, is there? You're already in hell and the staff is handing it out and so helpfully showing you how to use it, or recommending a type that would suit what you want.
You've presumably done your atonement for the day, yes? So cut back a bit, let loose. Hell might be pain and torment, but it's also a nonstop party in the bar.
There's even a brand new stage and a karaoke machine for those feeling brave!
Ask the staff demons very nicely and you may even get less scrupulous drugs as well. Things that will convince your fellow damned souls to tell only the truth for a fun prank, or perhaps even potions that will make someone so enamored with you, they won't take their eyes, or hands, off you. How dare they give you the cold shoulder earlier, right? You've got them now.

Relax and enjoy your night. Coming here and facing your sins is the hard part, so surely you deserve to have a little fun, right?
TOUCH ME
Warnings: Somnophilia, drugs, non-con, aphrodisiacs, dub-con.
The succubi and incubi have set up a fun night at the club. Sure, there's the nonstop dance party just next door, but in the main part of the club? Everything has been transformed to accommodate luxurious baths and massages, plush beds and oversize pillows that scatter the floor with the comfort of the patrons in mind. After nearly two weeks of very little sleep, it's time to be pampered a bit!
For a special treat, bringer of souls into Hell and mother of all sex demons, Lilith will be taking the stage. It seems hypnotic dances aren't her only talent! She'll be singing something inhuman, in some dead language perhaps. One won't need to know the words to be instantly soothed and coaxed into staying. It's apparently the best siren's song to draw those weary souls into the club for a fun, relaxing time.
As always, the aphrodisiacs are kicked up very high, but it seems like every touch the demonic staff gives makes one feel almost soothed and safe instead of ravenous. Every massage, every brush of a fingertip even, feels relaxing. Why not stay for the night? There will be warm drinks and all the pampering one could want! After a drink and a massage, one may be coaxed into a bath to be cleaned from head to toe (with or without a very happy end as those fingers trail everywhere).
All will seem on the up and up until after the bath when patrons may find themselves very sleepy all of a sudden. Is it just the lack of sleep catching up? Is it Lilith's calm voice ringing out everywhere?
Or was it drugs in the drink again? It was probably drugs in the drink.
It will get to the point where they absolutely won't be able to hold their eyes open. Sinners may not even remember being taken to one of the private bedrooms and laid out on the bed. They certainly won't have much awareness at all after they've settled into one of the most comfortable beds of their lives.
Or maybe they didn't even actually make it to a private room. They could have been left out on the club floor on the cushy seating, or laid presented somewhere all eager and ready for the touching.
Oh, and it will be tempting. Other patrons may find it downright irresistible with the succubi whispering into their ears, urging them to take what the want. Look at that gorgeous body, all spread out and responsive, even if they're asleep. What they don't know won't hurt them, right? Or perhaps it's absolutely the only way to wake a guest.
Think of it as a very naughty Sleeping Beauty situation and you're the knight in shining armor, come to save the day with a kiss. Or, you know, something much more.
Toys will be left out to be used at the sinner's pleasure, as well as anything else one may want.
Of course, the succubi didn't absolutely promise that one wouldn't wake up in the middle of the act! They're confident patrons will figure out how to maneuver this very awkward position.
Even if guests would normally be against indulging in a somnophilia kink, they may find their wills weakening anyway. The aphrodisiacs pulsing through the air are good at getting people to do what they normally wouldn't.
But for those who would really rather have both parties awake, patrons can arrange for private baths to enjoy together, or rooms to have a good night's rest in the feel good atmosphere. No sex required this time!

Lizzie Saltzman | Legacies | OTA
At the best of times, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Saltzman is known for the dramatics. This is not the best of time. This is bad bad bad. She comes in with blood from the car crash and dressed in what used to look like a beautiful princess gown. Her fairytale had quickly turned into a nightmare -- which she probably should have seen coming in retrospect because why would that sort of thing happen for her without a hitch. And Sebastian had warned her from the beginning to stay away. But Lizzie she's never been good at being told what to do.
She died with vampire blood in her system. Did she die? She doesn't know. Kaleb and MG have never mentioned hell as part of transitioning but she's also like - never asked them extensively about it either. Probably too busy being self absorbed or using MG to ask, honestly.
Now she wishes she had. Which is why she's grabbing people she can find to asking them random questions like if she looks paler than usual or if they could see dark veins on her face.
Is she going to lose her magic? She knows heretics are a thing, but they're also rare, aren't they?
please explain.
Eventually Lizzie found her twin or father and was calmed down so she's much less in the hysterics but still....on edge to be sure when she gets led into the room with a stranger. She sighs dramatically -- this seems like one of Emma's weird therapy practices or something. Except....with more torture involved, obviously.
The first card comes up. Bullying
Honestly? Sure, I've been a bully, but no worse than anybody else at the school, and it beats showing that you're weak, it's either eat or be eaten in the world.
[And Lizzie has been on both sides. How many times has she been called crazy lizzie, after all? But the answer isn't specific enough and soon she begins to feel the agony of her nail being torn off.]
Motherfuck-- [she bites her lip, trying to hide just how much it hurts.] I guess it wants us to be more specific than that.
quiet again
When she's released from the torture sessions, Lizzie is determined to find a way tor relax, which is what leads her to the new pool. For now she's sitting by the side in a bikini and mostly observing other people swimming, to make sure it's not going to suddenly boil them alive or something but also because some of the swimmers are total hotties and despite her recent experiences....she is still a teenage girl with hormones who can't help herself.
Convince her to join in on the fun?
[ooc: if none of those work, pm me and we can set something else up! she'd just be avoiding the alcohol and drugs for right now considering she was just recently roofied with vampire blood.]
arrival
Josie isn't expecting her sister to be here. Lizzie may not be the most objectively good person, but she's still Josie's favorite person and she doesn't want to see her in Hell. (It will never occur to her that Lizzie feels the same way about her, after everything she's done with dark magic as of late, but that's probably true in the inverse as well.)
She jogs towards her sister, closing the distance between the two of them in the hall, before throwing her arms around her.
"Where the hell are we?"
no subject
"Hell. That's what they keep saying -- I didn't realize I was going to detour after dying I've never heard anyone describe that as part of transitioning."
And Lizzie might be hyperventilating a little and crying and freaking out because she has had a Day and then ended up in hell and doesn't know what means for the car crash or the vampire blood in her system or anything.
no subject
Suddenly, Josie is Very Concerned, and she's looking over her sister like there might be some kind of clue as to what happened. Is she hurt? Is there internal bleeding? Does she need to find some kind of healer? WHAT HAPPENED LIZZIE?
"When did you die?"
no subject
Then she's going to turn. Even though she didn't want to. She hadn't been ready to make that kind of choice.
no subject
"No, hey. It'll be okay." Josie takes another step closer, resting her hands on her sister's shoulders and pulling her in closer. "I don't think we're dead. At least, I don't remember anything like that, so maybe you're fine. We're just stuck ... here."
Because her sister being dead is not an okay scenario for her, by any means.
no subject
"Okay. Well not dead is good. I totally am not wearing the right outfit if this is supposed to be my first day as a vampire."
Actually, finding clothes that aren't her ruined princess dress might be a good distraction, if nothing else.

arrival part two sort of
But he approaches her quietly when he does, keeping his voice calm and level to keep from spooking her when her stress levels might still be high.]
Elizabeth. It's good to see you.
no subject
lame as that is, sometimes.
but a relieved smile spreads across her lips as she hears her dad's voice because sure she had been angry at her dad for throwing sebastian into the prison realm with crazy uncle kai.....after what happened she's not so sure he was wrong to do so.
no one likes being vampire-roofied.
in any case she turns around to properly launch into a hug.]
Daddy!
no subject
How long have you been here? Are you okay?
no subject
Not long...a few hours, I think? But...no. Not really. Like everything seemed so great with Sebastian but then he roofied my wine with vampire blood and I siphoned him and threw him in the truck and then the car crashed --
[the more she explains her canon point exposition the more tight and high pitched her voice gets, there may be some tears threatening her eyes because while josie did help her calm down some...it was aking to putting a bandaid over a bullethole.]
And then I woke up here? Is this a weird part of transitioning? Am I dead? I don't -- I've thought about it before, becoming a vampire or heretic would make the merge a moot point, but I didn't --
I wasn't ready.

You're okay. You're not transitioning. You're still you, okay?

arrival!
Asking if she has dark veins under her eyes is a bit too specific of a worry. Klaus drops his tumbler to the bar top and is beside her in an instant, determined both to place and know her. It dawns on him, quite suddenly. She smells of Virginia, the boarding house, a girl he once knew. "Elizabeth Saltzman."
no subject
"Klaus? But you're dead."
Which is not comforting to her current mindspace. If this is really hell filled with dead people --- then she must be dead too. But she had vampire blood in her system....her stomach churns in panic.
no subject
no subject
"I don't know if I am. The last thing I remember was being in a car crash. And I had -- I had vampire blood in my system, at the time."
Which maybe Klaus won't care but hey, she is like one of Hope's besties these days so that should count for something, right?
no subject
He does care. As much as he can care about Caroline's daughter, the girl who did once do what was necessary to save Hope, and someone as lost, young, and frightened as she is now. It's not an negligible amount.
Klaus pulls in a breath and sighs it out, gesturing for her to sit on a stool. He moves to do so himself. The truth of the matter is she very well might be in transition. But— "If you were in transition, you would feel it. Have you noticed feeling any different since you've arrived?"
no subject
She sits down on the stool and takes deep breathes, trying to remember the calming techniques she learned during her summer in treatment. It at least clears her mind enough so she can think on his question.
"No. My siphoning seems to work as well as it always has to."
One of the first things she's tried.
(no subject)

arrival
She watches from afar, not stepping in because the teenager doesn't press too far. The brief question onslaught ends with an opening for Caroline to step over and interject. Coming in between stranger and girl, she lets a comforting, soft and compassionate smile slide onto her face. ] Sounds like you could use a little help. Dark veins? I know a little something about why that could happen.
[ That she speaks to one of her daughters is not even a consideration. Her babies, after all, are still little girls. She overheard the questioning, thinking it sounded like a brand new vampire who may be struggling. If she's learned anything at all, it's how to be supportive in that exact scenario. She'll never be as good at Stefan as it, but she can try. And if she's totally off the mark as to what's wrong with the teen, well, she can help, regardless. ]
no subject
[Lizzie's voice sounds desperate as she hears the familiar voice of her mother. If she is transitioning -- there's nobody better to have around, right? Caroline is like the queen master of being a controlled and awesome vampire. If she has her mother to help her, maybe it would be okay.
She wraps her arms around Caroline tightly, having no idea Caroline doesn't realize this is her daughter, all grown up.]
I don't know -- there was a car crash and I had vampire blood in my system and I don't know if being here means I died or -- I'm transitioning or what.
no subject
Her eyes widen when the teenager suddenly hugs her, 'Mom' ringing in her ears. Her focus and scope of the world narrow with quick haste as those words tumble out, ones full of sincerity and familiarity. They are words reserved for a mother to hear, a trusted confidant, one who can swoop in to save the day.
Caroline is forced to collect herself, fast, and she does. She wraps her arms around Lizzie, eyes shutting and her will stamping down tears that threaten to spill out. She hugs tightly, earnest and desperate. Whatever weird time thing that's happened? They'll figure it out later. ]
We'll figure it out, baby. Together. I promise, okay? [ She doesn't want to be the one to bring a stop to the embrace, not after being ripped away from her girls for months. She strokes a hand over the back of Lizzie's head, hoping it provides any comfort. With Lizzie so upset, perhaps justifiably so, she has to push herself to start shifting away, though -- it'd be weird if she just clung for dear life.
Drawing back, but not letting go and instead allowing her arms to shift to her daughter's upper-arms, she makes direct eye contact. ] I just woke up here too, and it didn't mean I'd died. And nightmares or fever dreams are not a part of transitioning. [ Her lips press together a little, eyes darting until she spots a couch they can sit on. Yay for amenities? ] Here. Let's sit. And breathe. In, pause, and then out. [ She won't force sitting down, but it sure will help, so she takes steps to do so, waiting for Lizzie to follow. ] That'll help. I promise. [ Making all sorts of promises, but how can she not? ]
no subject
it still hasn't settled in to her this is a much younger version of her mother -- it's hard to know when your mother doesn't age.]
Okay.
[she trusts her mother completely. if caroline says they're going to figure it out -- then they're going to. it's that simple. there's no one lizzie believes in more than her mother.
caroline woke up here too. she hadn't died. nightmares aren't part of transitioning -- every world is like a calming balm. maybe she had overreacted, like she's so often prone to doing, but she had had no idea what to think.
the next part is familiar, she had learned about breathing exercises during her time in europe getting better last summer. she sits down next to her mother and takes a few deep breaths, tries to focus on that and not everything else that had happened before she woke up here.
eventually she does feel a little calmer ]
I'm sorry for freaking out like that -- I just the last thing I remembered was the crash. I didn't know what waking up here meant.
no subject
[ Pausing for a moment, she steals a few precious seconds of drinking in Lizzie's beauty, admiring how the girl has grown up. She squeezes the hand she holds. ] If you want to tell me what happened, before the crash, you can. But you don't have to.
[ Naturally, she's desperate for every single detail. She's a mom, already worrying and stressing, but keeping it all to herself. Her encouraging smile shows none of that, her aim only to help Lizzie toward sincerely relaxing. ]
We can talk about anything else for a few minutes too. Then...maybe, probably, explore a bit. [ Clearly, she's a tad uncertain about that, but they'll have to do it eventually. ]
no subject
[it's a joke, but it's also true, of the twins, lizzie is the one who has taken caroline's flair for dramatics and turned it up a hundred. she's made small molehills into the biggest mountains.
but caroline is right this is a mountain of it's own.]
Sebastian, this vampire guy who was desiccated for like centuries who I was seeing, and I were having the perfect day -- which I guess seems weird when you consider we were in a prison world but it felt perfect -- until he started talking about staying there and turning me. I thought he would let me choose.
He snuck vampire blood into my wine. So I siphoned him, and I was on the road back to Mystic Falls and then BAM! I don't know what happened, I lost consciousness suddenly and crashed the car. And then woke up here.
[which is why she was freaking out the way she was.]
