It's true that they are experts at hurting each other. Her Matt does it with his inability to commit and childish thinking. He doesn't put the thought he should into anything important; stumbling from one situation to another. She does it by refusing to acknowledge her feelings for him or anything else. The bear traps and fights don't help matters either.

She takes comfort in him if only because the mirrors bring her walls down. They tell her how stupid and shallow she is, true, but they also let Elektra accept what he's saying. It lights a fire in her that clears away the doubt. Her Matt once told the assassin that he spared best with her. It goes both ways. He makes Elektra sharper even when he's an illusion of the one she loves most.

Her back stiffens against Matt as her resolve returns. It's obvious what must be done. She can't be moping around in a mirror maze about the situation. "I am going to escape this place at any cost. Then I'll finish killing every assassin after them. It is the only path worth taking." Certainly not self-pity and harm.
