Anyway, Jesse's not the first person to be unnerved by Lalo, and he's right to be wary. The darkness around him is palpable but hard to pin down, rolling off of him in unsettling waves. Maybe it's that the smiles only go all the way up to his eyes sometimes and when they do, that's unnerving on its own.
Maybe it's the fluidity of his movements and his mannerisms, like someone so glib in his behavior might not take anything seriously.
Maybe it's just that his friendliness feels more like an approximation than the real thing. Who can say.
He does genuinely consider what Jesse is saying and he has to admit to himself: it does make some sort of logical sense, even if Lalo suspects that it might not be Jesse's whole reason for not wanting to partake. ]
