TEST DRIVE MEME #13

Arrival
You remember a dream.

Or maybe nightmare is more accurate.

It was full of hellfire nipping at your skin and a sensation of being pulled down no matter how much you struggle or cry for help. There's a voice that feels like it's coming from all around you at once. Contrasting with the nightmare unfolding around you, it's smooth as silk. It makes you want to listen with every bit of attention you can muster in the moment.

"Judgement has come upon you, but not to worry. It can still be undone."

The voice promises you redemption for your sins. It promises you a better life and everything you could ever want, if only you just stop struggling so much.

And so you do.

Everyone wakes up in the same room initially. The room is done up in red with a cushy bed, a window, an old TV in the corner on a desk, and a few Hieronymus Bosch paintings lining the wall. There's a bathroom to clean up in and any belongings will be sat around the room to be gathered later. There's a duffel bag provided for your convenience.

After feeling a sensation of falling or dropping onto the bed, characters wake up feeling like they've just slept for a week. Their body will feel heavy and stiff, they'll have a massive headache at first.

They'll quickly notice the list of their sins written with their blood on a bedside table on an old piece of parchment. This will mean the list is tied to them and can't be changed or tampered with. They'll also receive their device to connect with others and the network. It won't be anything terribly fancy. As a matter of fact, it looks like a very old Blackberry type phone.

Once characters are ready to leave the room, they'll head down long, winding halls. They're dimly lit and ominous feeling. They may encounter fellow sinners or demonic staff that will direct the newcomer down to the lobby to get their actual room key to settle in. They may be pushy, they may border on courteous. It really just depends on the mood of the staff at the time and how they're treated in return. Eventually, everyone comes to stairs that lead downward.

Once down to the lobby, you'll notice the front desk manned by a demon who looks bored out of its mind. To the side of him is the door to the kitchen where guests may help themselves. To the right is a small duty free shop that seems to have a surprisingly normal, expected stock of items. Look around a bit further, there will be a tiny bar tucked in through a corner door. It seems pretty well-stocked and best of all, there's a demonic bartender who seems to know how to mix any drink you can imagine (and a few you can't). Of course there's some seating, bar games, and a jukebox tucked in the corner if you'd rather stay and socialize a bit. There's also a new addition of a karaoke machine.

Please note that all the songs on the jukebox are appropriately hell-themed. Hopefully Sympathy for the Devil is universally loved.

Welcome to My Nightmare
Familiar whispers are starting among the demons of Hell yet again! The big carnival is happening soon and it's going to be even bigger than before. Apparently the clowns are out, but special guests are in!

The names Bellas Mammon, and Verinne float around excitedly. Something about the angel is spat about with less enthusiasm from time to time. If the demons are pressed for additional information they'll just say that if the carnival guests are pleased, Hell is in for a grand expansion.

If asked how the carnival guests are to be pleased the demons will simply laugh and tell sinners not to worry. So, new denizen of Hell, guess what! Even with such little information to go on, you get to help the demons get everything ready for the upcoming event. Exciting!

Prompt I: We Built This City
WARNINGS: mentions of violence and drugs

Within the gates of our lovely Penance community a large portion of the area is currently in the process of being cleared away. Demons will be grabbing unsuspecting sinners and dragging them into the process without a care of whether they want to help or not. Sinners will work clearing charred debris, constructing stands, cleaning up dilapidated buildings, stringing lights and other decorations, and more.

Curiously, the only things that seem to be off-limits are rides and games, just like the last time. Hands off, buddy. Those are a surprise.

Unfortunately for all the guests involved, it seems like the demons are very serious about their role as supervisor. Cracking the whip isn't just a figure of speech is what we’re saying. If they catch anyone slacking off they will be punished accordingly. A swift hit, a hard shove, a good lashing with the whip for those who are particularly naughty. They may even just crack it if they think a sinner isn't working as fast or as hard as they could.

Well, now you know how serious they're taking this. After all, there's so much work to be done and such little time.

That said, the demons aren't entirely heartless. Just before a sinner collapses from exhaustion or dehydration, they'll be allowed to go treat themselves to some sandwiches and water. There's also an energy drink available simply called Speed Bull.

Knowing Hell, the 'healthy vitamins and minerals' contained in it are probably just code for actual speed. Ah, well, at least it keeps you going. Might want to be careful though. Drinking too many will lead you to, well, die (again). Might not be permanent, but isn’t fun or productive!

Those sinners who are especially resistant or otherwise naughty while constructing booths and other carnival necessities will find themselves put on porta potty duty. Arguably the worst duty of all, and they just might find themselves compelled to do so even if they hate it.

Other areas the guests will be able to help with include the tunnel of love, pens for a petting zoo, and the fun house, but they may not want to gaze into the mirrors too long...

Prompt II: The Maze of Mirrors
WARNINGS: mentions of mental health, addiction, violence, and sex

Those lucky enough to get a glimpse at the carnival’s fun house will notice an incomplete room full of mirrors. There’s no demons around cracking whips at the moment and there’s something about it that just feels like it’s calling to you. It’s clearly unfinished and they likely need some help, right? Might as well investigate.

If guests choose to enter this room, they will soon discover it's far larger than it seemed at first glance. Stranger yet, the room is a maze that seems to shift and change with every corner you turn. Didn’t you just enter from that direction? Well, looks like it’s a dead end now. Guess you’ll have to find another way out.

The longer someone stays trapped in this maze of mirrors the more they start to feel different. Sinners begin to change mentally and emotionally into their darkest nature. All the secret parts of themselves that they try to hide from everyone come rushing to the surface and this can also be actual secrets themselves!

Do you struggle with anger? Depression? Been holding yourself together by a thread for too long? Actually afraid of everything? Recovered addict? Jealous of that bitch Stacey? Itching to just murder someone? Maybe you’re a bit of a nymphomaniac or a compulsive liar. Perhaps you’ve been holding back on saying what’s really on your mind to some people or maybe you have a deep secret that’s itching to get out and you don’t care who hears it... like that one time you left someone to die, or when cheated on your significant other with their sibling.

Well good sinner, now feels like a great time to clear the air! Let people know who you really are. There might be someone else stuck in there with you who you can kill, or fuck, or yell all the things you’ve wanted to say to them (or just say in general) but haven’t. If not? Good thing there’s a network in Hell, and the reception seems to be excellent today.

This maddening desire to reveal secrets and become that which is often hidden grows stronger the longer a person remains in the maze of mirrors.

There are two ways someone can be brought back to their more normal selves: either by the acceptance and forgiveness from another person resulting in immediate relief, or by finally finding a way out. Although it may linger a few hours after exit until finally all returns to normal.

Something in the Air Tonight

Prompt I: Something In The Air
WARNINGS: mentions of body horror transformations

After everyone's fun time spent in the mental asylum earlier in the month, it looks as though the monster business isn’t quite done and over with. Perhaps sinners missed taking care of a small scratch or maybe the taint has just spread some other way, but sinners (old and new alike) may find themselves beginning to change, physically.

It may start out simple enough. An ache or a pain that could be blamed on a long day of construction or sleeping on the lumpy, uncomfortable beds, but it will soon progress. Fingernails may fall out as fingers turn to claws, legs may start melting together until a sinner is left with something that looks decidedly snake-like. It may feel like one's body is attempting to tear itself apart only to leave them with slimy tentacles.

Eventually, affected sinners might start to even think differently. Whether their physical mutations are big or small, are specific to one animal or several, or are the variety of horrific unidentified monsters from someone’s worst nightmare, the affected may begin to lose their higher state of consciousness for something more primal and animalistic.

Don't worry, Lucifer will reassure you all that this is only a temporary state of being! They’re working on getting everyone back to normal as we speak, so in the meantime just… try to enjoy it. It’s not all that bad, is it?

Prompt II: They Did The Monster Smash (nsfw)
WARNINGS: continued mentions of body horror

While under this transformation, some sinners may feel an innate desire for a night of debauchery. Whatever their monstrous state is, they find themselves wandering into the sex portion of the night club. While the mutations may be as small as claws and teeth, those experiencing it will also find themselves with an insatiable need to breed.

As the night goes on, people will find themselves more than just physically affected and begin displaying the following characteristics:

Alpha
  • Traditionally strong and dominant types. They are protective and extremely jealous once they’ve found a mate.
  • It is not uncommon for Alpha’s to fight over their chosen Omega with other Alphas.
  • When next to an omega in heat, they may enter into a rut state where their main concern will be claiming and mating with their chosen partner.
  • Ruts will send alphas into an extreme frenzy and cause them to be very aggressive.
  • They will be overwhelmed with the desire to dominate and have sex.

When an Alpha is close to climax, their genitals will swell and knot or entrap their partner in order to further ensure breeding. This swelling locks two people together for up to thirty minutes. During this period, it is not possible to pull apart from one another and may result in several rounds of intercourse. Keep in mind, however, that the more sex you engage in the longer it will take for the swelling to ease.

    Omega
  • Traditionally submissive types who aim to please. They are physically inferior to alphas and have an innate urge to be claimed and possessed.
  • When in heat, omegas experience fevers that can be dangerous if allowed to rise. The only cure for this is an orgasm.
  • Heats may last up to three days. During this time period, omegas will be insatiable. So much so it might become painful the longer they don’t mate.
  • They will be drawn towards the strongest alpha. Omegas put off a scent that will attract mates, particularly during heat, that often encourages alphas to fight for the right to breed with them among other alphas.
  • Bites to the neck may calm a feisty omega, but keep in mind that this may also cause a mating bond with them.
  • Omega’s during heat often become extremely self-lubricated.

Both Alpha and Omega may experience intense lasting orgasms with excessive amounts of cum to further ensure breeding. If an Omega cannot find a suitable mate they will find themselves incapable of satiation. Nothing is enough until a mate is found and even then, heat might hit them again soon after climax.

There’s another category, the Beta. These are those who aren’t really affected either way. Some of these patrons are still experiencing physical mutations but don’t seem to have the same heat and desire to breed. Others might not even be physically changed at all.

This can make things a little bit awkward, though. Especially when even the succubi and incubi are affected along with other demonic staff and guests. They may be eagerly dragging people, staff and sinners alike, off for a rough breeding session.

Of course, because it’s a sex club there’s plenty of other things to do. As always, no guest is safe from the potential of being dragged on stage for a demo or two. There are plenty of rooms with various themes for your delight including all sorts of toys and fucking machines. Anything you could imagine, really!

More information on what to find in the sex club here.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The mods recognize that abo is considered a slur against aboriginal peoples in Australia. It is important to us that we recognize this and clarify that such a term outside of alpha/beta/omega context is harmful and uncool. Stay groovy, and have fun!

    Wildcard
Not looking for debauchery or looking for a different kind? That’s alright! The club itself has plenty of other options such as a separate side explicitly for dancing. Drink up, maybe do a few lines, and dance the night away. There’s also a spa, a pool, a library, and all sorts of other areas for your character to explore now that they’re in hell.

You can find more information on the various locations here

"There's nothing worth bothering with on the whole planet," Luke agreed, a faint smile coming to his face. It was... good to know that not much changed on Tatooine, if what this person (it wasn't him, it couldn't be him) was saying was anything to go by. He peered over at him at his questions, trying very hard not to look into his eyes. He was afraid if he did, he would be right back in that moment, watching the life drain out of those eyes as a weak voice struggled to give him some words of comfort.

Tell your sister, you were right...

How... how could this even be happening...

"Even Jedi do terrible things in war time," he replied softly, his own sins weighing heavily on him, especially so at the moment.
    unpragmatic: (laughter)

    [personal profile] unpragmatic 2020-05-29 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Anakin can't help smiling in return - something he doesn't do often these days. Still, it's genuine. No one can commiserate on how terrible Tatooine is when they're not from there. It's a common ground, at least. The humour takes some of the heaviness of Anakin's lingering resentment for the desert world away, if only briefly.

"Of course they do," Anakin says with a slight shrug. He has regrets, always, but they seldom revolve around the actions he's taken in the war, no matter how questionable. He walks a moral line that other Jedi would often disagree with. But war is war, and they cannot play by the old rules if they want to win. And Anakin wants to win, after all.

"My Master would say that even Jedi aren't perfect," he continues, and of course that's true. What else is true is that Anakin wishes he could be perfect: perfectly strong, perfectly capable, perfectly untouchable. He is none of those things, just as no one else is, but it gets to him anyway. He can never meet his own impossible standards.

"But war has rules we cannot predict. We all have to make difficult choices. Who gets to decide what we've done so wrong that we deserve punishment for it? Don't get caught up in whether this is something deserved or inevitable. We will escape this place." He says this with conviction. He has to mean this. Giving in to despair is easy here, and he doesn't want to fall into that trap.

"I think you already know this, but I'm Anakin Skywalker. I don't recognise you. You're...not fighting in the Clone Wars, are you?" he asks. He's pretty sure he's right, though he might not be. He's already met people from other wars, like Finn, from decades after his own war. The fullness of the future is unknown to him, the pieces scattered and unsure.

    [personal profile] faithfulson 2020-06-03 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Luke felt his heart ache at him so casually saying his name. With it, came all those boyish memories of staying out and looking at the stars at night, waiting for a ship to come down from atmosphere and take him away from Tatooine. How many mental images had he come up with of his father? At least there were some parts he had been close on; he did have longer hair, darker than he had imagined, but then his own had darkened after some time off that rock. His eyes were blue too, and it made him happy to know he hadn't been imagining that when he had removed Vader's mask.

He had to press his hands together, carefully hiding how much of a struggle it was not to just break down right then and there.

"No, I was not," Luke replied. "The Clone Wars ended when I was born."
    unpragmatic: (clouded future)

    [personal profile] unpragmatic 2020-06-04 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Anakin isn't sure what he feels from Luke, what the expression on the other's face means. He misinterprets it slightly to be related to the time difference. The young man in front of him must be around his own age, so that's...so long in the future that Anakin can't really imagine it.

"They ended when you were born?" he repeats, shocked to hear it so plainly put. He has so many questions. He wants to know everything. He's so close to winning this war. Confirmation would be vindicating. He wants to know that he's right, that he's done all he said he would.

"Really? How? Did the Republic win? Did we..."

But he can almost hear Obi-Wan telling him not to get too arrogant. Too much pride is dangerous. He knows that, despite blatantly ignoring it constantly.

"Wait. No. I shouldn't ask you that. I shouldn't ask you to tell me too much of the future, as tempting as that is."

Anakin isn't good at resisting temptation. Another time, another place, more pressing on him, and he may break down and ask Luke to tell him. This need to know is already in him, and it seems everyone he's met is from the future. He can't avoid it forever.

"But there's another war," he says, circling back. "Something else you've fought. I'm disappointed to know that. I supppose there's no such thing as an end to war forever, but still."
    faithfulson: (Whatever you say...)

    [personal profile] faithfulson 2020-06-09 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
A pained smile came to his face. He could see himself in his father, and it just made everything hurt worse. Part of him just wanted to throw his arms around him, never mind how incredibly awkward that was going to be. It was that awkwardness that held him back, but it was still hard.

"Perhaps... later, when I've had time to settle and process all this," he answered softly. "I wouldn't mind sharing what happens with you."

Just... slightly edited. Just slightly. Because how was he supposed to tell his father that he would fall to the Dark Side and help the Emperor control the galaxy through fear and oppression? And would it even be fair to keep the truth from him, like Obi-Wan and Yoda had done to him?

...he seriously needed to think on this.

"Now though, I'm just... trying to process all of this."
    unpragmatic: (breathe)

    [personal profile] unpragmatic 2020-06-09 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
"That seems fair enough," Anakin says, though it takes him a lot not to turn back on what he'd already said and ask too many questions. Anyone would want to know the future, wouldn't they? How can he not want to know?

The Son had shown him once, though he's forgotten it now. All that's left is burning curiosity.

"It took me awhile to...come to terms with everything this place is. The time differences are almost the least of it." He shrugs as if it doesn't matter. But everything matters, doesn't it, especially to Anakin. Everything matters too much despite whatever airs he puts on.

"You haven't told me your name," he says.
    faithfulson: (What is this...?)

    [personal profile] faithfulson 2020-06-11 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Time differences, hunh... that would explain a lot. Still, why would he be here, now, like this, yet somehow he would still go on to be Vader? Somehow, weirdly, that both made him hopeful and filled him with dread; clearly, this meant they would be able to leave this place, but... did that also mean that this place had a negative effect on the people that escaped?

What did that mean for him...?

He was so lost in though, he almost missed the prompt for his name. An awkward pause passed before he gave a start, a bit of a sheepish look coming to his face.

"Luke," he replied, for a moment faltering on a last name to give. "Just... just Luke."
    unpragmatic: (cw - arms crossed)

    [personal profile] unpragmatic 2020-06-11 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Anakin doesn't find the faltering suspicious; this man, whoever he is, is obviously having a hard time dealing with arriving here. Anakin himself hadn't dealt well, but he'd also been drugged almost immediately, which made the experience a bit different. Since then, he still hasn't dealt all that well, but most people don't. It's designed like that.

"Well, just Luke, considering we're both Jedi, I think it would be in our interests to work together on how to get out of this place. The more of us working on a way to return everyone to where they belong, the faster it will go, right?"
    faithfulson: (Looking out)

    [personal profile] faithfulson 2020-06-13 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
A soft, sad smile came to Luke's face. Hunh... his father was asking him to join him again. Different words, of course, but... He let out a faint laugh, ducking his head slightly.

"I wouldn't mind that," he said softly. "What have you been able to figure out so far?"
    unpragmatic: (consider)

    [personal profile] unpragmatic 2020-06-15 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
Anakin's answering smile is genuine, at least. He can cover a lot with bravado, but that doesn't seem necessary here. Not yet, anyway. He tells himself eventually he'll figure out whatever the weirdness here is about, but for now he sets it aside (not lets it go, he almost never lets things go).

He crosses his arms and considers. "Unfortunately not as much as I'd like. I haven't been here that long, and there's always something happening. What I've learned may not be entirely true. I'm not sure how much we can trust Lucifer, the one in charge here. But he told me that the being that pulled us here from different universes fashions himself some sort of god. If we atone for the sins this god has pinned on us, then we'll get to go home, or...something like that. Lucifer himself seems a bit put out by the whole thing. He told me he was trapped here after fighting against this god, who he calls Father. If he reforms enough so-called sinners, then he won't be trapped here anymore either.

"Beyond that, I don't know much else. There's a woman, Lilith, who I think is also somewhat in charge, but I've yet to speak with her. Apparently we can entreat god with prayers, but it's not likely he'll answer us. I haven't tried that. Seems like a waste of time. There's some people called the Veiled Order, but I don't know who they are yet."
    faithfulson: (I think I swallowed a bug)

    [personal profile] faithfulson 2020-06-16 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Luke gave him a disbelieving look, like there was no way that could actually be true. At the same time, "stuck in a certain circumstance because of your father" was too close for comfort if he was being honest.

"They honestly expect us to believe that?" Luke replied. And who was this 'god' supposed to be, and what right did he have to pin them with sins? His guilt over various things he's done and things that happened was enough for him to deal with, thank you very much.
    unpragmatic: (talk)

    [personal profile] unpragmatic 2020-06-19 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm not sure if they expect us to believe it or not. There are books in the library that talk about some of it, this Lucifer and his war with God. But who knows what's true and what isn't? It seems to me that whatever the truth is, if this so-called god has pulled us here, he's the one we have to fight. Whether we have to go through Lucifer to do it, I'm not yet sure." Basically, he's trying to work an angle of getting along with the devil to see if it gets them any closer to going home. That doesn't mean he plays along with torture and suffering, or at least not yet.

"I'm sorry. This is a lot to take in all at once, no matter who you are, Jedi or otherwise." Anakin has had a few months to adjust to it, but that doesn't make him hate this place less.
    faithfulson: (What no?!)

    [personal profile] faithfulson 2020-06-20 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
He's the one we have to fight.

Luke stared at his father, feeling something in his gut twist. Fight? How could he just automatically jump to fighting? He could understand being quick to jump to violence, stars knew he had done that enough, but most of the time that ended badly. His father had been fighting his own war before he came here; surely he knew that immediately jumping into the fray wasn't always the best idea.

...but, then again, how many times had he seen Darth Vader just run in, just because he was powerful enough to mow down rows of troops with a single swipe of his lightsaber?

    Was his father... always...?

"Maybe we can find another way," he finally said softly. "There has to be an explanation that makes more sense than this."
    unpragmatic: (just stop talking)

    [personal profile] unpragmatic 2020-06-24 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Do you think you can talk down someone who professes to be a god, and then sentences others to torture?" he asks. Anakin has, in fact, always been quick to violence above other solutions. He and Obi-Wan have gotten into it about this before. (Perhaps it's fitting now to get into it with Luke, who Obi-Wan also trained.)

"I'm not against your idea of talking," he says, though it's clear he doesn't think it will work. But...he considers that both Obi-Wan and Padme would try that path before violence. Anakin can only be what he is, really, but he knows that words have worked for other people.

"Will you try to pray to this god? Lucifer says sometimes he might answer." He's not meaning to be mocking, though there's just a hint of in somewhere in his tone. He just doesn't see a way out of this literal hell without fighting to get everyone safe and free.
    faithfulson: (...okay maybe not)

    [personal profile] faithfulson 2020-06-25 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm a bit tired of people with god-like egos, and I'm not about to pray to them," Luke replied softly. Part of him wanted to scream in that moment, to yell at his father that his way of thinking lead to terrible things, but he couldn't manage it.

If only he could, but he wasn't sure he was prepared for the conversation that would follow.

Instead, he let out a sigh, folding his hands before him.

"I'm just saying, we should keep an open mind. The obvious answer isn't always, 'Hit with lightsaber until dead'."
