TEST DRIVE MEME #42
Arrival
"Judgement has come upon you. God has deemed you worthy of Hell. But don't worry, it can still be undone," comes a soothing voice that echoes all around you. The voice promises comfort, hope even.
It may seem like a nightmare at first, despite all of that. Full of hellfire nipping at your skin and a sensation of being pulled down no matter how much you struggle or cry for help. Wretched, unseen hands pull at you, grip tight at your body, tighten on your throat, skeletal fingers grab at your face, slide in your mouth and jab at your eyes as they struggle for purchase. It feels like for a moment, they may snap your neck as they tug and pull. The more you resist, the more phantom hands are added to your struggling body.
It feels like they could tear you apart if you let them. The only thing to do is to let go and stop fighting.
And so you do.
Darkness and nothingness consumes you for a second, And it seems to linger for a long time. There is nothing at all. It must be lonely. But it won’t be forever.
Initially, everyone opens their eyes to a long, dark corridor made of stone. They find themselves in what appears to be a long queue with other sinners, palm bloody.
Characters find their bodies feel heavy and stiff, bruised with odd hand prints here and there that they received during their journey down below. A massive headache throbs behind their temples. They are urged forward to take a numbered ticket and wait their turn in the long line. As they're ushered forward through the corridor, their first stop will be to see Lilith, standing outside her office.
The woman in a smart suit and a friendly smile steps forward to greet sinners one by one. "I'm sorry for your rough landing. We've never gotten it quite as smooth as it was in the past. Please, let me see your hand--"
Once she has the sinner's hand, there's the warm, almost electric touch of magic that soothes away the aches and pains, heals the wound left behind on each sinner's palm. Lilith looks satisfied with her work and gives a nod. "There, all better. Please take your care package and continue on until you reach the stairs."
On their way out, sinners receive their 'package', a contract detailing all sins committed. If they look at the list closely enough they'll notice it's written with their blood. That explains the palm wound then. It's an old piece of parchment despite the freshly written letters upon it. They will also receive a slightly more modern smart phone. Think early generation Android and a pamphlet made by other sinners during their stay here with useful tips.
After that, sinners will be ushered on to a set of stairs where a guard waits. "Welcome to Penance," the demon says gruffly before motioning them on without an ounce of courtesy. "Don't hold up the line."
They seem to go on and wind forever, but eventually, they come upon what appears to be an old fashioned kingdom.
The demon stationed outside the entrance looks rather bored, but when sinners approach? He seems to snap to attention to offer whatever help they might need of him. He will at least direct to food or rooms to rest their weary bodies, or recommend ways to spend their time while they're in these new lands. Sorry about the confusion, Hell is just undergoing some rather unhappy changes.
Stand Your Ground
The mermaids have been contained and returned to Mammon or destroyed, depending on just how naughty they were, and something resembling calm has returned to Mammon's lands! Mostly. We'll just ignore the pesky looming threat of a cult insistent on the death of all things. Mammon has his army on it. They will be kept at bay, so relax and enjoy the final month inthese lands!
Besides, now that the villainous (according to Mammon) Dreq has been apprehended and locked in the basements next to Barbas, no one has to worry about siren songs drawing them out to the waters. He is in his dragon form now, chained securely to the floor. Visitors are allowed, but it is ill-advised. Anyone who attempts to plot with him or free him will find themselves in a cell for up to three days.
Other than finally taking care of one menace, it seems that Mammon's lands have taken on a very loud pink, red, and white theme for February. Heart decorations abound, along with the sickly sweet smell of roses and perfume lingering in the air everywhere. It seems like Mammon's demons take the season of love very seriously and the excitement is in the air wherever you go.
With a more debauched tone to it. They're demons and don't quite understand love so much as possession and greed and lust, but ah well... it's the thought that counts.
Lilith is also rather busy overseeing the construction of a platform where the portal to and from Mammon's island and Penance will stand. It's a joyous thing, she insists, showing two lands in Hell coming together in ways not generally done. She promises that it will be ready for all to use very soon. Not only that, but it will be remaining open!
That means going forward, Hell is going to be an even bigger space than usual, with commute between two majestic kingdoms very possible.
Reach Up High
PROMPT I Punishments can only be pushed back and forgotten for so long before Lucifer has to listen to his Father and dole out his duties. At least he was thoughtful enough to keep this one Valentine's themed! Maybe with just a tiny bit of input from their gracious host.
Starting in the morning at the beginning of February, sinners may receive a candy heart. A goblin will come knocking early, tap, tap, tapping until the door is opened at last. "A heart full just for you!" it will squeak out, shoving the tiny heart-shaped box at the recipient before rushing off.
Looking inside, there will be an actual human heart that seems to still beat somehow. Upon it is carved a sin from another sinner. Great or small written out, there's a letter contained within the box explaining the game.
A sinner was chosen at random to have their heart plucked from their chest. While the sinner lives still, the recipient of the heart will have to decide if the sin is worthy of forgiveness. If so, they may return the heart to its owner.
If not? The recipient may choose to keep the heart and in a matter of two days, the sinner will die and revive. Alternatively, the recipient may choose to control the unfortunate sinner and guide them into redeeming themselves however they so choose.Or whatever mischief they decide.
Of course, if the recipient of the heart chooses to manipulate the owner, they will gain the sin of manipulation added to their list.
If the recipient decides the sin is worthy of forgiveness, both sinners will receive one sin each removed from their lists.
If the sinner is allowed to die, then they will have failed this challenge and no sins will be removed from either contract.
To return the heart, recipients will be able to magically place the heart back in the owner's chest.
Prompt II Mammon has a simple request of sinners, and the promise of removing one sin as a reward! Earlier in the month, a host of critters were let loose. Most of them are harmless, but they are spreading throughout Hell like wildfire, populating the dimension rapidly. Mammon asks that sinners round them up and return them to the local demons. Adopting them will be acceptable if sinners take care of them. Mammon is a bit sentimental! Don't treat the little fellows badly.
Follow Me Down
PROMPT I While most of the creatures Dreq and company freed were captured, there seems to be some precocious little cherub-like fairies fluttering around, complete with little heart arrows they are not afraid to use.
Instead of malice, these little guys do genuinely think they're helping by flying around and shooting unsuspecting people with their miniature arrows!
Depending on the type, multiple effects can happen, including:
Prompt II After the demonic hosted dating app goes live, sinners who match are invited to one of the local taverns for a very romantic affair! All tables are decorated with pink and white clothes, with rose petals scattered about. There are pink drinks being served, both alcoholic and non, as well as heart-shaped steaks. Jars of white chocolates are on each table to pick at while guests enjoy their company for the evening. Romantic music even plays in the background!
Wildcard/Misc. Don't see something you love but still want to get a feel for the game? Check out our extensive list of LOCATIONS and write up your very own prompt however you'd like to! You can also add a "NETWORK" post option to your TL for quick, easy, and fun interactions.
And without further ado: Welcome to our new TDM for the February 1st app round! As always, potential appers and characters already in game are welcomed to jump right in! This TDM counts as an additional game event as well as game canon for those coming into the game. If you app and are accepted, TDM tags become game canon and can be used for AC! Please have fun and don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have down below.

Creatures
- Cat-Bunny hybrid
- hell horses with horns, demon unicorns that can impale people on the horn, then eat their flesh
- cabbits, harmless and adorable with giant ears
- but also bunniculas - vicious blood sucking rabbits
- hell crabs, GIANT crabs with a massive pincers that spit fire and can walk on lava
- the tiny fairy that wants to play cupid
- harmless what look like lightening bugs (they glow at night!) - they're actually extra tiny fairies, please don't squish
- Small tentacle monsters that electrocute people if they get too close, maybe they look kind of like jellyfish, but with way more arms (like a jellyfish was cross-bred with an octopus). these can breathe, fly/teleport in the air
- tiny narwhals, sea creatures that gravitate to the water immediately, with horns, but they're actually very gentle and playful
Dahlia Hawthorne | Ace Attorney
Arrival - Exploration
Dahlia twirls her parasol as she wanders down the streets of Mammon's kingdom. Hell was not what she thought it would be - sprawling with life (demonic life, but life all the same) and some strange sense of normalcy. There were shops, gardens (so she found earlier), and dining; things she never thought she'd find in a place of never-ending torture. This? This she could handle. She smiles to herself as she stops in front of the Book Shoppe, glancing in the window as she contemplates going inside.
What would she find in a bookshop in Hell? Might as well go in and find out. She closes her parasol and makes her way inside. She walks through the stacks, head held high, eyeing the titles as she passes by. Some she recognizes, some she doesn't, tracing her fingers along the spines before she settles on some of the classics. Maybe something to pass by the time as she learns more about this place, maybe something to enjoy while she sat in the gardens.
Dahlia tilts her head as she picks up a copy of Pride and Prejudice, cracking open the cover and starting to read through the opening paragraphs.
"Well, at least there's something decent here." She says to herself with a smile, turning the page. "I wonder what else I can find." She pauses, closing the book with a snap. "Do you happen to know what payment a demon would happen to accept?" She glances toward the closest sinner, clearly looking for an answer.
Reach Up High - I
Ah.
After the initial surprise of receiving a human heart, she makes her way to the gardens with the box and a book. She didn't know any of the other Sinners so how was she supposed to find whose heart she had? She sighs, taking a seat along a stone wall, setting the box next to her open and on display, watching it beat as though it still pumped blood.
"Well, we'll find who it belongs to and see how we finish the game, hm?"
She sets the book in her lap as she picks up the note again, reading it over once more. Maybe she missed something in her initial read of the game. Maybe a passerby will simply recognize the sin and demand their heart back. Either way, she held the key to decide their fate, and oh what fun that was.
Follow Me Down - I
This? This was unexpected. She stands still after the pain of the arrow shoots through her body - glancing down to where it protrudes from her skin. It takes a moment, maybe two, before she does the stupid thing and pulls the arrow out, watching the blood drip down her thigh with a bit of shock. She sneers at the fairy, eyes narrowed at the creature that flies away clearly having succeeded in their mission. She inhales sharply, trying to steady her nerves as she closes her eyes. She could not lose her cool, not so soon.
She inhales again, deep breaths, before she opens her eyes and..... oh.
She hasn't felt that in a long time.
Reach up high - I'm screaming bc I didn't look at this TDM for a couple of days and MISSED THIS
Evidently, there's been a transfer.
Since the garden is basically the only green place he's found in Hell, he spends a fair amount of time there. When he first sees her in the corner of his eye, he thinks it has to be some kind of mirage, but, of course, it still brings him to a screeching halt.
He turns, and pushes his beanie up a little even though it doesn't actually make a difference for how well he can see, and just ... stares.
Yep.
That sure is Dahlia Hawthorne.
No worries! 8D
That very name stirs some toxic emotion inside of her, somemthing that rises up and sinks in her chest. Seeing him for the first time in ages... she inhales sharply and does her best to not sneer, to not glower, to not give away that she's bitter. To not give away that she loaths this man. Another deep breath, before she offers him a saccharine smile. She could try and convince him that she's her sister, but the ruse would only last so long as she didn't tire of him.
She folds the paper, setting it aside as she slides off the wall. She slowly walks over to him.
"My, my, it seems I'm not the only person who was dragged to Hell." She says in an almost sickeningly sweet tone. "Is it your heart I have?" She stops in front of him, hand on her hip as she reaches out to touch his chest. "How unfortunate for you."

Then she gets the weird but familiar feeling of being watched, and her head snaps up. She glances around until she sees a redheaded woman she doesn't recognize staring at her.
"Uh, yeah? Can I help you?"
no subject
What has come over her? She's never acted like this before. She considers the options of fighting back, but her heart races as looks over this woman. It's been a long time since she has had any thought that was beyond what she could get from someone. Dahlia shifts on her feet, taking a step forward.
"I apologize." She glances away, actually feeling bashful. "It's been quite a while since I found someone attractive."
Henry Sturges | Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
CW: Dub Con, Blood, Vampire stuff, dubious age difference.
Follow Me Down:Prompt I:
Henry walks toward the bar, happy for the slight lul in the action after the incident with the mermaids. With the regular meals he's been getting lately, the claw marks on his chest healed quickly and cleanly.
He sees the creatures flitting around the baby-like appearance only slightly unsettling, that is, until he gets plunked with an arrow on his way to his usual table, eyes starting to glaze over.
[ pick an arrow! Not feeling hatred or envy right now]
Prompt II
Henry smooths out his suit and picks up a champagne flute filled with a deep red liquid and takes a small sip, eyes roaming the crowd as he leans against the bar top. Did he match with someone, or is he just crashing the party?

Reach Up High
[locked to Namor]
Henry knows something is wrong when he wakes up; he feels different, and something is missing. Henry feels cold, almost hollow. When he sits up, he realizes there is a hole in his chest, and his heart is gone.
He staggers toward the mirror just above the small chest of drawers and leans against it taking in the hole in his chest, wondering how he's even conscious and where his heart could be.
Little did he know that it was literally in someone else's hands, with the name Virginia, the one person, the one sin he'd been avoiding talking about.
Wild Card:
As always, find him in the library, the bar, or the club; want to plot something, hit me on Plurk :D

Wildcard | as discussed, Henry has Bucky's heart, lmk if this works?
It feels uncomfortable, the missing organ no longer beating in his chest. His chest feels like an empty cavity, void of something warm and necessary, but full of pain at the same time.
He's drawn to Henry through all of it, without really understanding why. He searches for him, thinking there's no way he's just going to randomly run into him. Until he does. Bucky nearly tumbles into Henry's arms.
"Did you...." Breathe. "Get a box today?"
Perfect!
Henry is holding the box like it contains the most precious thing in the world, and when he finds James, he lets out a slow unneeded breath and nods.
"I did," He nods, looking Bucky over and moving into the man's personal space looking him over as he holds out the box to return Bucky's heart. "Here, I only want your metaphorical heart," He says, shaking his head.

Essek Thelyss | Critical Role
Essek stared at the goblin and the box, his expression flat and unamused. It couldn’t be good, not with the rhythmic sound he could hear from inside or the faint metallic scent of copper seeping free. A heart full. They weren’t even trying to be subtle.
Sighing, he floated to the couch and sat down, moving the books on the small table beside it. When the box was opened, he saw the still beating heart (interesting magic), and the sin carved into it. The rules were a little more detailed than he was expecting, and while he was rather ambivalent on his ‘sins’, the idea of possibly helping another would be a motivator.
Gathering up the box, he slid out of their cottage and made his way towards the town, seeking out the person whose name was on the letter.
Follow Me Down
The fairies were plentiful, if not inherently disturbing, and while Essek was attempting to avoid them, there were only so many Hold Persons he could cast before it was a waste. If he had known these things were out, he wouldn’t have left the cottage, but he had required a few components for his pouch. This place did not allow for “rain checks”, and he would rather be safe than sorry.
He was almost home – could see it in the distance – when an arrow unknowingly struck him between his shoulder blades. Somewhere, he heard a little fairy softly giggle. His back twinged as he straightened, and he looked around curiously. Home. He…just had to get home, right?
follow me down
It was disgustingly domestic but he'd found some pleasure in finding ways to surprise his husbands, especially Essek. Little things that might earn that faint smile he was so good at.
"You're back early," He said as the door opened, turning to look over his shoulder at Essek. "Caleb's not back yet, I'd bet he got distracted in the library."
no subject
Affection came in so many forms.
He floated into the cottage, feeling warmer the closer he came inside. Surely it was from the heat of the stove, the fires burning. There could be no other reason.
"Pity," he said, voice low as he set down his own book and made his way across the small space. The drow slid up behind him, close, closer than normal, close so that he could raise up enough with his spell and look over the tiefling's shoulder. "Did Caleb tell you about Xhorhasian soup?"

"Another gift from Hell, it seems." He sighed, thought of asking Caleb to steel his stomach before remembering who was he was addressing. Taking off the lid of the box, he let him see the rhythmically beating heart with a name etched into it.
"Would you like to see the rules?" He nodded at the card inside. "It is written as a game, but I'm hardly surprised anymore.

Bucky Barnes | MCU | OTA warnings in prompts
A.) Bucky has someone else's heart
cw: heart organ gore
He dreads having to make some sort of post, but he might have to, he realizes, if someone doesn't come forward. He doesn't want to have to ask anyone about it, either, the heart in the box next to him.
Desperate, he sighs, lifts up the box and whispers to it, "Can you bring your owner to me?" It's worth a shot, right?
Maybe the owner of the heart is nearby and will feel a tug in his direction.
Reach Up High Prompt 1
B.) Someone else has Bucky's heart
cw: heart organ gore
When it's turned around on him, when Bucky can tell his own heart has been ripped out, when there's a vague, throbbing pain in his chest, but nothing beats?
Struggling to breathe, he stumbles through the castle, the gardens, the city around Mammon's castle, everywhere, searching for the person that has his heart.
At least, he feels he should walk in a certain direction. As he gets closer, he feels less uncomfortable, though the pain seems to increase. When he finds someone with one of those familiar boxes with them, he points to it.
"That's mine." They should just give it back, he seems to think, but things don't always work that way, do they.
On the heart, the sin carved into it is Avoidance.
Follow Me Down Prompt 1
A.) Love Arrow Mutual
One moment Bucky feels a minor, but sharp pang, the next, he doesn't care. His body posture soften, his facial features sharpen from suspicious of everything and staying to a gentle gaze.
He locks eyes with the first person he sees and starts to walk over to them.
"Sure you don't want to go somewhere...more private with me?"
Follow Me Down Prompt 1
B.) Obsession Arrow (hitting someone else)
cw: possessiveness, violence
He's not a stranger the arrow situation going on, but it's starting to get annoying. When someone approaches him, he doesn't considering even what arrow they might have been hit with.
"You need something?"

Part of him wonders if the water would help, but that's discarded. This isn't from lack of water.
This is--
"That's mine!" He manages roughly, eyes narrowing. He isn't sure what's worse, the obvious Vibranium Bucky is showing off in that arm of his or the fact he clutches his heart in his hands.
"Give it back."
He hasn't quite realized Ramonda is carved into the heart.

America Chavez | MCU | OTA warnings in prompts
A.) America has someone else's heart
cw: heart organ gore
As soon as she opens the box (my god!) America closes it back. She wasn't expecting an actual beating human heart, after all. It was even oozing blood from the sin carved into it. EW.
Disturbed, she takes the box out into more public areas and asks out loud, "Anyone missing a heart?"
If no one claims it, she even does a network post.
found, one heart. please let me know if you're missing one. i want to return it.
now.
Reach Up High Prompt 1
B.) Someone else has America's heart
cw: heart organ gore
As soon as America feels a pull to a certain person, the person that has to have her heart, she stumbles forward, breathes in deeply, then points to the box.
"That's mine. Give it back." She won't get violent, yet, as long as they hand it over.
But they don't have to, do they? Will they?
Wildcard: anything else goes here

A. America has someone else's heart
Then she sees America's message on the network and for just a moment she raises her eyebrows, wondering at how that would be even possible. You can't just lose a heart, can you? But then something dawns on her, and with shaking hands she removes her sweater to find a gaping wound in her torso, right where her heart should be. There should be blood spilling right at the floor. No, in fact she should be lying there, dead, since it's impossible to live without a heart. Yet she can breathe and think and ...
It must be her heart, that America has. Her fingers are still shaking as she types a reply. Unbeknownst to her the heart reads, in letters etched deeply into it: Being unable to protect her mother in the alternate timeline OR Having the potential to become the ‘Destroyer of Worlds’. ]

Hey. It ... might be mine. I am definitely missing one.
[ This ranks highly on the list of weird texts in her life, honestly. ]
